Website change monitoring FAQ

Short, direct answers about how WebsiteChange watches pages, when it alerts you, what it keeps and how plans work. If your question is not here, write to [email protected].

Getting started

It checks the public pages your business depends on, such as competitor pricing, product pages, vendor terms and regulator notices, and tells you in plain English what changed and whether it matters. It answers one question, what changed on this page, which is different from uptime monitoring (is the site up) and brand mention tracking (who mentions you). See track website changes for the full flow.

Paste the URL, optionally pick one element on it, choose how often to check and how sensitive the comparison should be, and pick where alerts go. The first check stores Version 1, and every later check compares against the last version.

Yes. The home page has a demo: paste any public page and see its first snapshot and a summary of what changed since an earlier public capture, with no card and no account. There is no free plan beyond that one demo.

You sign up with your email and a password, then enter the 6-digit code we email you. The page from the demo is saved on your watchlist.

What we monitor

Any page that anyone can open without signing in: pricing pages, product pages, terms and privacy policies, career pages, press pages, changelogs and agency notices. Teams use it to monitor competitors and to monitor terms of service changes.

Pages behind a login, a paywall or a CAPTCHA, and pages the site owner excludes in robots.txt. We never log in on your behalf, never solve CAPTCHAs, never bypass access controls and fetch politely per host.

Yes. Choose a CSS selector or click the element on the snapshot, for example a pricing table, a price block or a list of open roles. Everything else on the page is ignored for that monitor.

Hourly on Starter, every 15 min on Growth, every 5 min on Business and every 2 min on Enterprise. You can also check less often, daily or weekly, to save checks.

Yes, on Growth and above. Price and stock extraction reads the price and availability from a product or pricing page and keeps their history. See competitor price monitoring.

Alerts and summaries

Before comparing, we set aside dates, counters, rotating banners, cookie bars and tracking parameters, plus any ignore rules you add. Only a change that survives this filter can trigger an alert.

One or two plain sentences that explain a real change, for example "Pro plan price raised from 79 to 99 USD per month; annual discount removed", with an importance score of low, medium or high. Summaries run only on a filtered change. Read more about AI website monitoring.

Email on every plan. Slack, Microsoft Teams and webhooks on Growth and above. Business adds digests per team. Details on the website change alert page.

Yes. Choose instant alerts, a daily digest or a weekly digest for each monitor, and filter by importance so only medium or high changes reach you.

History and export

6 months on Starter, 2 years on Growth, 5 years on Business and without a limit on Enterprise, with custom retention available on Enterprise.

A full-page screenshot, the page text and its HTML structure, plus a text diff and a visual diff with highlighted changes against the previous version. Versions are searchable.

Yes. Export versions and changes to CSV on every plan, and create PDF change reports from Growth up. The full archive is described on the website archive tools page.

Growth includes a read API, Business and Enterprise include the full API, and Enterprise gets higher rate limits. Webhooks send each change to your own system. See the website change monitoring API.

Teams and security

Yes. Workspaces keep pages, alerts and history apart for each team or client: 1 on Starter, 3 on Growth, 15 on Business and unlimited on Enterprise.

Yes. The pages you watch, your alerts and your history are visible only to members of your workspace.

Yes. SSO with SAML is part of Business and Enterprise, together with roles and an audit log. Enterprise adds SCIM provisioning. See website monitoring security.

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, retention follows your plan, and you can delete monitors and their history at any time.

Plans and billing

Each fetch and comparison of a page is one check, and each written summary is one AI summary, within your billing period. Deleting a monitor does not give back what it already used.

Yes. A higher plan, or switching from monthly to yearly billing, charges the difference right away. A lower plan applies from the next billing period. Compare plans on the website change monitoring pricing page.

You can cancel anytime and keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Payments are final, with the exceptions listed in our refund policy.

No. Every plan, Enterprise included, is bought online. Questions go to [email protected].
